>"I dont see why you want to spend your money on one of those fucking things bro." >"Because, Rick, I just want one." >Anon's roommate scoffed and waved his hand absent mindly him as he closed the door, keying the lock home with a crisp 'clack' >After Anon's grandfather died, he inherited a solid sum of money that set him up for life... but his life still felt empty >Dating had proved a war of endless crushing defeats, and the sullen pang of hurt knocked him lightly in the chest as he turned the ignition in his 2013 Ford Fusion >No matter what he did, they always seemed after his money in the end, and never clicked with him on an emotional level, able to feed the hungry blackness inside >But this... this was going to be different >He had made up his mind >Soon, very soon he would have someone to call his own and someone to call him theirs >Someone to share his gun collection with >Someone to cook with >Someone to... be with >Lord knows Rick wasnt filling that fucking role anyway >The fusion purred along the road and finally after many miles turned into the parking lot of the huge complex that dominated the buildings around it >It shimmered and glistened in the sun from his multi glass front walkway and its huge, single revolving door >The buildinf was part show room, part sales room, and part manufacturing complex that gilded itself on thermal and solar energy usage and being green >That didnt matter to Anon, as his goal was just inside and waiting for him >She... was waiting for him >As Anon gingerly hopped into the revolving door, the sun caught the great teal letters that stood out much akin to a movie theatres >'Juxton Robotics' shined bright againt the glass, and so did Anon's face as he entered the front lobby >Anon whistled lightly as he moved past the revolving door and looked around at the almost exceedingly modern lobby, crystal clean and not even dust in the air was visible >A smartly dressed woman with her dry brown hair in a tight bun sat at the front desk, rapidly typing onto a pristine white keyboard as she chattered into a little headset that seemed to be mostly contained in her ear >Anon walked up and nervously tugged at the hem of his JoJo t-shirt... he never did like talking to business women, quite frankly they reminded him too much of werewolves in people clothing >"Ah, hello there dear. Here to buy or just to prowl around the show room?" She asked with a tart clip to her voice, her eyes never leaving the holo screen infront of her >"To... buy, ma'am." Anon replied, doing his best to keep his voice low and the quiver he felt deep down and hidden >The desk woman's fingers paused just for the faintest moment and her eyes flicked up to Anon's >"To buy? You?" She asked, if just a bit on the accusational side >"Yes ma'am. I have coin if you have wares." Anon quipped back, and it actually brought forth a bark of laughter from the desk woman >Anon flushed embarrased, but held his ground >"Wares you say! Oh yes we do have ~wares~ a'plenty here..." She laughed, and pressed a button with her foot >A door let forth a cheeky hiss and a click, opening with a slither of air >"Through the door, and make sure those wares dont get the best of you." The desk woman purred with a twinkle of amusement in her eye, in which Anon kept no delay and hurrdily double timed away as he heard her say 'Kajeet has wares' and let forth another chuckle >Anon shot past the doors and squeezed his eyes with embarrassment as the shame of using a meme in public prodded at his mind >But when he opened his eyes, he found he was standing in an expansive hallway where a single man in a hounds tooth suit stood waiting, a simple clipboard in his hand >"Coming?" He asked >The man turned on his heel and began to walk awayn his shoes ticking softly as he walked >Anon had to break into a trot to catch up, and as soon as he did the man began to pelt him with a series of questions >Name, age, occupation, hobbies, all written down on the clipboard with neat and scientific handwriting that could almost pass for art >Then came the... stranger questions >"Are you into... younger ladies? Your preferred bust size? Hair color? Skin color? Are you by chance fond of freckles?..." The man asked, questions upon questions raining down like missiles >Anon answered as best and as truthfully as he was willing, in which the man would nod or flick his eyes over at him and smile knowingly >The man made the back of Anon's neck sweat uncomfortably... >Eventually he seemed to run out of room on his clipboard, and looked up to address another smaller woman who was walking by with her own clipboard >This gave Anon the few seconds it allowed to look around and realize he was surrounded by fucking glass front coffins >"What the fu-..." Anon began as he peered down into the glass front of the nearest one and saw, much to his surprise, the face of a woman >She had almost lemon colored hair and eyebrows, her lips the same shade of color, and wore a sundress of an even more brilliant yellow >Anon barely had a moment to get this eyeful before he felt a pen tap on his shoulder >Anon spun around and held up his hands to the man with the clipboard, who simply smiled >"Im afraid shes taken." He said, and tapped his pen to his clipboard >"However, for you perfection is only a few steps away..." He said again and gestured with his clipboard to another smaller room where multiple people waited with tablets, one even holding a VR headset and fibroware gloves >"I-I dont want perfection." Anon blurted out and the man cocked his head slightly with confision >What the man didnt know was that Anon had caught small technical reciept that was printed on the casket >Anon had plenty of money, yes, but there was no way in hell he was going to drop 16 fucking million dollars on a robotic house partner. No fucking way >He had read online that there are throw aways, or rejected synthetics that are kept for study and second hand sale for those who couldnt afford perfection, but something close to it >The man with the clipboard tapped his pen on the metal keeper as he eyed Anon, looking down at what he had wrote every so often >An urge to flee crept its way up Anons spine as the fear of being too far over his head began to worm its way into his brain >"I may know of someone you may like to meet." The man said almost cheerily, playing with his pen as he mulled it over in his head >"Yes... Yes I know just the certain someone. Follow me now." The man turned on his heel again but Anon was able to keep up this time, looking down at the coffins lined up when he could >The big center room was almost like a morgue with all the coffins lined up in neat little rows, and he was able to catch a delivery crew wheeling one away >He couldn't see where they went as he and the man with the clipboard entered another smaller room, the lighting a little bit darker than the previous room, giving it a rather forlorn mood to it >Instead of the hundreds of coffins, there sat only 3 in this room >The man walked over to the one on the farthest left and gestured to Anon to come closer >With a little hesitation, Anon walked over and stood beside the man with the clip board, and looked down at the form on the other side of the glass >Her face was beautiful, with light freckling along the nose and Auburn hair radiating around her head like a crown >Her body was athletic yet stocky like she was built for combat compared to the others he saw, whom were more slender or hilariously curvy >She looked almost normal except for the small metal nubs where her ears would be, the lines that ran from the edge of her eyes to said nubs, and a small white scar >The scar was like a small white nick on her chin, and Anon smiled as he saw it as it gave her an almost rough and tumble tomboy look >"Her owner died before he could ever pick her up. Paid in full." The man began, resting the clipboard and his hands on his waist >"She was designed to be an assistant for a pro three gun shooter, knowledgeable in weapons care, auto maintenance, and rustic cooking. Everyone who comes here is looking for perfection, and how she was designed... well, he didnt have that in mind." >Most importantly, thought Anon, was that the price listed on her casket was 500 thousand, and much more agreeable >"Yeah uh... sure! I'lll... take it. Her. This." Anon knocked his knuckles on the glass front of the casket and the man looked at Anon with hooded eyes "Her." He stated >"Her, yes." Anon parroted back and cleared his throat awkwardly >The man with the clipboard dropped Anon off back at the front desk where he paid, gave them his address for delivery, and entered his information into the registry in case she was eligible for software upgrades in the future >Giddy with excitement he rushed home, preparing for the long wait to tomorrow >Rick on the other hand called him a 'traitor to mankind' and holed up in his own room in the house. Rick was an earlier attempt to cure Anon's loneliness and only proved to be something of a mooching pain in the dick >But not even his trolling jibes could deter Anon from setting up his gaming desk with snacks and drinks and playing away into the night to burn away the time >But then a sudden thought struck anon as he looked around his room >He had no safe >No guns >Not even a bb gun >A grip of panick punched him in the chest as he realized he has nothing for her to upkeep >He has no shooting skills to boot! >Sheepishly, anon closed down his games and opened up google, and with deliberate key strokes words began to appear in the search bar: >"Beginners Shooting Theory" >Anon burned the midnight oil in his hasty crash course of shooting theory and terminology in order to not look like a bumbling idiot when his delivery came tomorrow >Anon tended to talk big talk about all the guns he 'owned' and his 'collection', when it mostly involved a folder of static gun pictures on his computer and some clever photoshopping >However the thought of showing his ass to a being who knew everything in the book was a terrifying prospect since it was supposed to be... >You know, his partner... >Anon knuckled down on the youtube, an older gentlemen chuckling darkly as he shot at soda bottles and chatted about a revolver called the 'Rhino' >The only reason he knew morning had come was when sunlight pierced through the blinds and scattered across his retinas >Anon blinked bleary-eyed at his watch and the time blinked at him dully, birds chirping outside cheerfully >"Big day..." Anon murmured to himself, and leaned back in his chair with a creak >He rubbed fitfully at his eyes with his palms as he groaned, a number of doubts rattling around in his brain as if someone had filled it with legos >But with another groan he swooped out of his chair onto his feet, and went off to take a shower and get ready to meet the delivery men >After the shower he looked sourly at his dresser drawers >While shirts and jeans were in abundance... there was little else to pick through unless it was an anime shirt or something with a cartoon on it >Anon picked one that was more vague jn its reference, the words "See you space cowboy" written on the bottom right near the hem >He was still grumbling over his jeans when the doorbell rang and he jumped, his naked legs stark in the window light >Scrambling to shove his meat tubes into his jeans, Anon pattered down the hall to the front door and flung it inwards, and the sight before him almost sucked the air from his lungs >She was standing there, right there in the doorway >No deliverymen >No truck >"Anon?" She asked, her freckles glowing ever so slightly along with the lines running from her ear modules to the corner of her eyes >"Yeah im... im Anon. You just... walked here? Where is the uh... the uh..." Anon formed a box with his hands and a vague coffinish shape >"Truck broke down, and i like to walk." She answered in a clipped but soft voice, her hands held infront of her >She was dressed in a very common fashion, a pair of tan pants, a leather belt, white tshirt, and interestingly enough a pair of white converse with no socks >The two stared at each other for a moment before the android leaned slightly to the left and just over Anon's shoulder before back up to his face >"Oh! Oh yes please come in." Anon stammered, standing out of the way and gesturing inwards >The android smiled at Anon and took a single step past the frame of the door, but then closed her eyes and once again the curious glow lit her freckles up just slightly before she opened her eyes again and stepped into the house >Having her standing infront of him at her height... Anon realized she would never have been the woman he would have even begun to look at >She was strong, her arms almost as thick as Anons and her legs seemed to radiate power and strength >But even more intimidating was the fact she was a solid inch taller than him... >Anon watched her as she walked into the living room and slowly spun around, taking it all in as she dragged a hand along the top of the couch >"I have been asleep for so long..." she murmured, her eyes putting on an impressive aura like effect due to the low light and the shadow the light from the window behind her >"And then I am woken up and told I am told to walk to an address. You are not... what I expected from your information sheet." >She pulled out a small packet and held it out to Anon with a smile, the cover page displaying "ANDROID CARE DAY 1: YOUR ANDROID LOVER AND YOU"
