>Japan was not ready when the Gate appeared out of no where in Ginza, Tokyo >The murderous masses that poured from that hellish portal laid down a massacre that, from the descriptions we received in our welcome packets, would cause many to turn green about the gills >While the JSDF was quick to react and successfully pushed the vanguard attack from Ginza, and pushed into the gate themselves some months after, they still found themselves low on personnel and untrusting of outside countries >However, they found they were able to close this gap with expendable mercenaries that would take horrible pay just to adventure past the gate and get a taste of fantasy >People, like me, like us >We came in flights across the ocean from the states in droves, our packs stuffed to the gills with the packs and milsurp we had collected for years in case of a natural disaster, or the happening >Finally we had a use for them, and nothing would be left behind >I was part of a band that had met before hand, and in true fasion we all wore matching Heer uniforms and chosen our Mauser pattern rifles thanks to a massive surplus of the 7,92 being found as well as the 7,62 and other calibers >There were 30 of us, some wearing steel helmets and others like me favoring the soft field cap >To say we were excited was not even the surface of what we felt >The Japs were saying they were finding fucking elves and cat people on the other side of that god damn portal, and we were all keen to get a look ourselves >There was a risk of dying, but with a once in a life time thing like this, it was well worth the risk >When we landed, we arranged all of our gear and made supply arrangements with the Japs to ensure we had a steady supply of nutrition and munitions >The Japs were adamant we take a brace of automatic weapons, and we settled on four M240B's with full kit >Our orders, it seems, were to act as scouts and guerillas, giving the landing forces enough time to build up and put things in order >We all mulled over this as we sat in groups infront of the gate, the great looming doors cold and desolate to the lightly humming polished marble >I myself spotted a few familiar items across the way, and couldnt help but chuckle to myself as i checked my pouches and their ammunition >Many a way of life had come here, and some were more hilarious than the next >a group of maybe 40 men say across from us, and quite frankly looked like they were ripped straight out of the Stalker platform >Ak47s and Sks's sat across their laps as they joked and whistled lewdly at passing Japanese women, their masks and ponchos hanging at their waists >One man looked at me and shouted "Hail for the cube!" >I laughed, instantly getting the reference and shouted back "May the cube grant us pretty cat girls and tanned elves!" >The other man laughed and coughed with the mirth, the people around us chuckling >Across from them were a group of Australians, their shorts high and their hats cocked in a dandy fashion >While they only had great knives, they were busily being outfitted by the JSDF and were quickly getting a run down of their automatic weapons >"Hope they know they carry more than 3 rounds in those magazines..." Murmured Harrison behind me, who was running oil along his new M240b and wiping it down "Oh im sure they'll figure it out after the first few blue on blues..." I said back, and nudged him with my shoulder >Another group along the way reaked of tacticool and looked more like airsoft players in their gear >All of them held an AR15 of some kind and were decked out in what could only be the largest amount of multicam and coyote brown in Japan >In another corner was a group of 20 rough neck looking cowboy types, armed to the teeth with hunting rifles and lever action carbines >Hearing them, they seemed more interested in what kind of animals were on the other side of the gate, and one was heard wondering aloud "...what my 30.06 could do to some pansy ass dragon..." >One JSDF lieutenant was waving at all of us and we stood, my own little group falling into formation >We wouldnt tell anyone, but there wasnt a man here who wasnt past military, and we noticed the group of stalker types stepped in the exact same way... >With our rifles and machine guns slung, our packs heavy with ammunition and supplies, we stood and recieved the lieutenant as he spoke >"Gentleman! We welcome you with open arms in your assistance to Japan! Beyond this gate is the forward operating base which you shall use for resupply and relaxation!" >"I thought that was what the locals were for..." Whispered Julius, and we all tittered quietly >"Our main goal is to keep good relations with the locals, provide aid to those who need it, and keep the roads clear of enemy forces. YOUR job... is to make them as scared as possible of our forces, which seeing some of you..." >The lieutenant motioned towards the group of stalkers and my own little group >"...Should not be too hard." >Many of us laughed openly, and with a wave of his hand the gate began to creak open with the screech of sitting metal >"Elf Jaeger!" I called, and the group snapped to attention with a roar >"I believe this calls for a song!" I yelled, and began to sing the only song worth singing in a time like this >We all began to sing Erika, as loud as we could >"Oh you god damn Nazis!" Screamed the roughnecks, and the stalkers couldnt but sing along with us as we began to walk or march towards the gate guys you gonna pay to ship your fucking dodge truck across the pond? we'd get vehicles or horses from the FOB >"In der Heimat wohnt ein kleines Mägdelein und das heißt: Erika!" We yelled together as the roughnecks grumbled behind us, dragging their feet and bitching about the lack of patriotism >The feeling almost sucked the air from our lungs and the song faltered to a holt as we passed through the gate >The world swirled, our feet stumbled in the void, and then suddenly our heels crashed into the soft dirt in the Gate >We were in darkness with painfully bright light gleaming at the end, and as we walked we began to see green rolling hills, and impossibly blue skies free of taint and pollutions >"What in gods name is this..." I heard behind me, and my little group of Wehrmacht Personnel popped into the most beautiful place I had ever seen >The air was clean and smelled of a freshness I had never known >The grass was green, and even the new buildings made here from the JSDF >We were slightly... disappointed to see nothing but the Japanese for the first time, but after all it was early on in their campaign and this was still a bustling FOB >We passed through and met at a muster point for our vehicles, in front of a large sign in many languages, english being one >"Welcome to the Special Region!" and underneath it some cheeky bastard had scribbled >"Here there be monsters..." >We all had a dark chuckle and were recieved by the Captain in charge of us mercenaries >He was stout and strong for a Japanese, and spoke with a light accent to his English >My little Group was to head North and camp on a hill due to calvary attacks on foot mounted soldiers trying to do patrols near a village, and wanted us to take a few vehicles and build a small hooch of sorts >He kept saying "fire base" but he didnt seem to understand why we kept shaking our rifles at him >We made our way to the motor pool, the stalkers branching off to already attack the commissary and score some hooch for their own travels >Instead of the armored vehicles or even the HMMVs, it appeared they had... heard wind we were coming >I already knew who the BRDMs were for, the stalkers should get a pretty solid kick out of those things, but our own vehicles brought a groan from my own little platoon >We... had motorbikes with sidecars >Two Volkswagons >and Two Isuzu Type 73's >"This is racist." Spat Harrison, and we all broke out into guffaws of laughter at the horse shit we would have to deal with >But, these were free, and we began to spread out and store our gear and pick up further provisions to pack into the Type 73's >I myself and Harrison packed ourselves into one of the motorbikes with the side car, Harrison slapping his 240B on the side car with the bipod out due to a lack of mount >The motorcycle was gamey and had a spring to her, bouncing merrily as i hopped on the seat >Another lieutenant made his way to use, and in extremely broken english handed me a map with rapidly tapping a big red circle on top of a hill, over looking a small village named Jefer >"Alright alright ALRIGHT!" I yelled and whipped the map away from him and kicked at him lightly, his broken english HEERREE driving my short nerves quickly to the breaking point >"All ready sir!" Came from behind me, and I turned around to see the volkswagon's windows full of M40 clad men leaning out of them and the Type 73's rocking with men leaning over the side or hanging off of it with clout >I started the engine and it purred to life, the rest of the engines coming to life behind in me in spurts due to the slight language barrier and quick familirizations with their controls >With a tilt of my head, I shouted >"Auf der Heide blüht ein kleines Blümelein und das heißt: Erika!" I boomed, and shot the motorcycle into gear >"In mein'm Kämmerlein blüht auch ein Blümelein und das heißt: Erika!" Roared behind me, and the rest of the vehicles surged forward with an eagerness only second to children being let loose in a Toys R Us >To say Harrison was having a good time would be a shallow representation of the hooting man next to me >Thankfully he caught my hat as it almost came off of my head, and secured me a pair of goggles to put on, as the bugs here were huge bastards and left welts when they hit >My Mauser jangled happily on my shoulder in the wind as we road, the volkswagons squirrling here and there on the road with the Type 73s failed to even give a shit it was a road they were even on >The Hill that was our target soon loomed into view after a few hours of driving and i motioned to the other vehicles to take it, while motioning for the other bike to get behind me >I wanted a look at this little village, and we both roared down the road with our gunners hugging their machine guns tightly, a belt already slapped into place long ago >Soon little cottages with happily smoking stacks and milling animals began to come into view and I looked over at Harrison >"Hold fire. Unless Fired Upon!" I screamed, and he gave his helmet a tap with his knuckles in answer >Soon more and more buildings began to swing into view as we came down the road, and people began to look at us curiously before realizing what we were and sprinting for their doors >Harrison yelled eaglery and slapped at my legs, his machine gun shaking violently with the lack of support >"Thats an Elf! Its a real fucking elf!" He screamed with delight, pointing at a red haired woman with rather... pointed ears sprinting across the road and shooting us a glare >I gave him a kick with my boot and shifted into a lower gear, slowing us down to about 25 miles per hour as we rode into the main drag on the square, passing the first building with the second bike coming up behind and to the left of me >I let go of the handles of the motorcycle, pulling my goggles up onto my forehead to get a better look of the little village while Harrison tilted his helmet up, giving a sharp whistle at a woman looking down at us from a window >A half eaten apple bounced off his helmet with a metalic 'thunk' >It appears lewd whistles speak in multiple languages, no matter what planet or dimension you're from >The town was large enough for a market square, but not enough for a wall, with multiple stalls lining the great strip and many wares left out in their panic to get to their homes >I brough the bike to a squealing halt with my hands resting on my thighs as I looked around, Harrison doing the same and whistling at another pair of eyes peeking out from a door way >Suddenly there was a worry this man was going to get me stuck with an arrow... >"Aye bohss, we outta move on nah." The accent of Kristal was hard to miss, and it didn't surprise me the little harley harlot had made her way onto a bike >"Yep, lets go back to the hill." I answered, and put my goggles back down onto my face >The quietly purring engine came back to life with the throttle applicated and we made our way out of town, hanging a hard right to swing around back towards the hill off road >There was a small knoll in front of us , and we climbed it in time to run in the middle of a formation of horsemen >"Who the fuck are they!?" Roared Harrison, and he spun around in his seat as I swung hard left to avoid the bay mare and her rider in front of me >"Imperials?!" I bellowed back, and craned my neck around as I kept the turn >My answer came as I saw one of the riders chuck a spear at Kristal, her ducking and whipping out her HkVp9 from her houlder and fire over her shoulder blindly >"Harrison, light those fuckers up!" I commanded and braked with the front wheel, whipping us around to have 6 of the 10 riders in front of us >"Aye aye AYE! HAHAHA!" Harrison shouted delightedly, and his 240 began to bark its song of death into the those who were unlucky enough to fall into his sights >The 7,62 rounds stiched a red line up the breast of one horse and right into the rider on its back, the leather armor ripping apart as if it was made of tissue paper and a splurt of gore spraying from the rider's back >Harrison kept up his bloodlustful laughter as he swung the 240 back and forth, sewing the seeds of death to anything living in his firing arc >Kristal still fired as she gunned her motorcycle, hiting a rider in the head with a hollowing ring as it passed through his skull and took his metal helmet with it >Her own gunner fired eagerly, taking down a horse and rider on his own >The horsemen instantly broke and rode away in a scattered panic, and we ourselves turn tail and carved a trail in the grass with our tires >Harrison naturally swung his 240 over my head and sprayed a gift of farewell shots in our wake
