>You wake up and look over to your alarm clock >9am on a Saturday, at least you went to sleep at a decent time last night >You slowly and quietly wiggle out of the grip of the woman still sleeping silently in bed >Your feet hit the cold floor and send a shock up your body >The room is cold outside of the bed, but it is winter and a space heater was running most of the night >You get your slippers on and drag yourself towards the kitchen to make yourself some coffee >You get the beans measured out and the coffee machine started, then look out the window to examine the outdoors >What you see brings a wide smile to your face >The weather man was saying it might snow but you never expected this >There's a four foot blanket of pure whiteness outside >You're glad you got property with a woods surrounding it, a bit better than your standard front and back yard but not enough to use as a range >You hear the machine finishing and you carefully retrieve your mug >After taking a sip to confirm you made it the way you like it, you turn and march towards the living room >You open up the door to the wood stove and grab some tinder and logs >It takes a little bit to get the fire to catch but you get it to go, and close the door to the wood stove > Through the small window in the wood stove door you can see the flames dance back and forth in their own little waltz radiating heat >You walk to the door and open it >A foot away from it is a newspaper, wrapped in a pastic waterproof bag sticking half way out of the snow >You quickly grab it and close the door trying to minimize your exposure to the biting cold >Your phone says it's about -7F out there, it could get colder but in what you're in it's pretty cold to you. >You sit yourself down in a reclining chair and begin to read it >Up untill Lilly came to the house you never read it, but now it interests you somewhat >Must be you maturing in someway or her old fashioned way of doing is getting to you >You look up from reading to find Lilly walking out of the bedroom, rubbing the sleep from her eyes >"Well you seem to be up early anon" she says with a yawn and a smile "Couldn't go back to sleep. I'll start breakfast when I'm done reading, there is fresh coffee in the kitchen if you want some" >She nods >"Thank you Anon" she say before continuing to the kitchen >You hear Lillys footsteps enter the kitchen then abruptly stop >You hear a gasp followed by about fifteen seconds of silence >Suddenly there's a squeal of excitement and Lilly flies back into the living room >"ANON, ANON, IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT! IT REALLY SNOWED!" "It sure did Lilly, I was thinking after breakfast we could go outside and go sledding, how does that sound to you?" >"R-Really? Well hurry up let's have breakfast!" Lilly says then rushes back into the kitchen >From where you are you can hear the frantic opening of drawers and the taking of pots and pans >After a hearty breakfast of pancakes and syrup you exit via the backdoor, sled in your hands, Lilly following you >Once outside, Lilly starts high step running through the snow, seeing your feet sink a good foot or so >She does this around the yard, laughing the entire time >She squeals a bit in surprise as she falls and face plants in the snow with a soft 'poof' >This causes you to let out a pfffft followed by laughter >Lilly quickly raises her snow covered face, shaking a fair amount while faking a look of annoyance >She quickly rolls and snowball and heaves it in your direction >You're able to doge the projectile and you drop the sled "Hey!" >You create you're own ball and fling it back at Lilly >You miss, but is causes her to squeal in delight >The snowball fight goes on for a few minutes before you charge Lillys position and hug her >She laughs as she falls back and tries to get you off >You both lay there for a second staring at each other >"So...sledding?" Lilly says "Oh..right" You say then you roll off her and towards the sled >You grab the sled and dash towards the slope "Come on! Let's go" >Lilly starts running after you, a big smile on her face and her jacket covered in snow >After a very short run you set the sled down and steady it "You get on in the front I'll be in the back" >Lilly rushes over and sits down in the sled >You get on the sled and push >Lilly squeals in delight as the sled travels down hill faster and faster >At the bottom of the hill Lilly gets out and starts to run back up the hill >"Come on lets do it again! It's been so long since I last played in the snow!" >You quickly roll off the sled, picking it up before chasing after Lilly up the hill >You can't help but smile like an idiot as she turns around half way up the hill and waves at you before continuing up >Four hours later you both enter the house cold, exhausted, and hungry >You remove your jacket and snow pants then stoke the wood stove some more which thankfully was still going somehow >You both enjoy a lunch of grilled cheese with tomato soup, then flop down on the couch >Lilly snuggles up next to you with only her head poking out from under the blanket >She gives off a soft purr of delight before falling fast asleep >You listen to the sound of the fire in the stove crackle before you yourself drift off in this cozy winter wonderland
