>You don't know how long you've been out for, but you feel like you're coming about or this is what it feels like to die >You start hearing far off voices, but you can't make out what they're saying. >After a few minutes the voices become more clear to you, people with voices you don't recognize. >You suddenly open you're eyes, which are instantly filled with white >It takes another minute or two to adjust and you come face to face with the whitewash of a hospital room ceiling >"Ah, he's come to" you hear one of the voices say as footsteps draw closer to you >You try to sit up but a hand firmly keeps you in place >"Whoa, slow down there cowboy, don't want to hurt yourself anymore than you are already" the voice says again >You lay back down and tilt your head to the source of the voice >A man in blue medical scrubs and a clipboard stands before you, looking it over like all doctors do before speaking >"Looks like you got into a struggle with a bear, multiple deep lacerations to the superior left arm and inferior abdomen and puncture wounds to your right shoulder" The doctor says. >You don't remember ever feeling getting slashed by the bear in the abdomen, but maybe the adrenaline blocked out that pain >"You're recovery is looking good and you should be out of here in about a week "How long was I out for?" you croak >"You were out for a solid three days. Whole time a woman who claimed to be your girlfriend sat by your side. I believe she's out in the hall right now" "Lilly?" >"Yeah, she said that was her name. Should I tell her you're awake?" "Yes please" >The doctor nods before walking out of the room closing the door quietly behind him >A few seconds later you hear the door handle slowly open and quiet foot steps enter >You turn your head to the sight of Lilly, who looks like she's been crying constantly for the past days >She stands there looking into your eyes >"A-anon?" "Hey Lilly" >She takes a few small steps before rushing over to you throwing her arms around you, burying her face in your chest >"Oh god, I thought I'd lost you forever!" "Whoa there Lilly, I'm okay, I'm okay. I just have to stay here for another week then I'll be out" >She tightens the grip of her hug as you say those words >"I don't know what I would have done without you. You've been so kind Anon, I-I-I l-love you, I love you I love you" >She's barley able to say the final words before breaking down in your chest >You place one hand on the top of her head and the other you wipe away a tear from her cheek, and very softly you begin to sing to her "Life is old there, older than the trees. younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze" "Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong. West Virignia. Mountain mama. Take me home, country roads" >You softly sing to her as she continues to cry and repeats that she loves you. >After a few minutes she looks up at you as you end the song >"Anon, promise me" "Promise you what?" >"Promise me that...you'll never leave me ever. I don't want to be alone again" "I promise" you say then kiss her forehead She drops her head back into her snuggle position with a small smile no her face >"Thank you Anon" >She then drifts off to sleep, her quiet breathing relaxing to the ear
