INT. ELLIS'S APARTMENT - DAY

Ellis puts his gun in its holster. Kayla looks at Ellis with
disgust.

                 KAYLA
        You're fucking disgusting Ellis.

                 ELLIS (V.O.)
        And calling you a woman is a
        disservice to actual women.

Ellis steps out of the room.

                 KAYLA
        Are you even going to tell her what
        you did?

                 ELLIS (O.S.)
        I'll be more honest than you sure
        as shit have ever been.

                 KAYLA
        All you want to do is fuck her,
        Ellis! Don't come crying to me when
        this shit blows up in your face.

Ellis comes back.

                 ELLIS

Ellis steps out of the apartment into


INT. ELLIS'S CAR - DAY

Ellis starts his car, then puts the directions in for Payson,
Arizona. He eyes his gun.

                 ELLIS (V.O.)
        I really hope Ronnie doesn't have
        an ambush set up for me.

Ellis takes a deep breath then exhales. He closes his eyes,
opens them, then puts his car in gear and drives off.

EXT. FREEWAY - DAY

                 ELLIS (V.O.)
        How do I know she won't like me?
        How do I know this isn't some
        elaborate ambush?


EXT. MOUNTAIN FOREST ROAD - DAY

Ellis's car passes a sign that reads, "Now entering Payson".


INT. ELLIS'S CAR - DAY

Ellis carries a look of discomfort.

                 ELLIS
        Let's do this.


EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - DAY

Ellis's car drives in.

Cait stands there.

Ellis rolls his window down, then looks in front of him, then
behind him.

                 CAIT
        Hi Ellis!

Ellis takes another moment to look behind him, then back in
front of him once more.

                 ELLIS
        This isn't an ambush?

                 CAIT
        Wait, what?

                 ELLIS
        Uh. Don't worry about it. It's good
        to see you, Cait.

Cait smiles.

                 CAIT
        You too, Ellis.

Cait hugs Ellis. The whole situation feels awkward for Ellis
as he carries a look of discomfort.

                 CAIT
        It's good to see you.

Ellis hugs her back, still uncomfortable.

                 ELLIS
        Yeah, it is.

                 CAIT
        You okay, sweetie?

                 ELLIS
        It's weird, sorry.

The two let each other go.

                 CAIT
        What is?

                 ELLIS
        Last time we talked, you were
        holding Ronnie and frankly...

Ellis looks down in shame.

                 ELLIS
        I need to admit some things that
        have been bothering me.

                 CAIT

The two stand in silence.

                 ELLIS (V.O.)
        She fucking hates my guts and can I
        blame her? I literally destroyed
        their relationshi-

Cait sighs.

                 CAIT
        Ellis...

                 ELLIS
        Cait, I'm sorry. I'll go home and
        all and you won't ever have to
        worry about me-

                 CAIT

Cait grabs Ellis by the hand.

                 ELLIS
        What?

                 CAIT
        I forgive you.

                 ELLIS
        Don't you want a few days to think
        this over? How do you know I'm not
        fucking with you here?

                 CAIT
        Ellis, sweetie. You're a lot of
        things. Depressed, clingy, riddled
        with abandonment issues, got the
        sense of humor of someone whose
        been beaten by their dad...

Ellis's eyes widen.

                 ELLIS

                 CAIT
        You got shit wrong with you. But

Cait holds Ellis's hand, then kisses him on the lips.

                 CAIT
        Now come on, I know a few good
        places to eat out here. Maybe it'll
        get the cock breath out of your
        mouth.

Ellis tightens his grip on Cait's hand.

                 ELLIS
        So uh. Is it okay if I make out
        with you?

                 CAIT
        Jesus christ, Ellis.

Ellis leans in and the two hold each other in a kiss.
