FADE IN:


     EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX - NIGHT

     Ellis's car, an aged Toyota Corolla pulls itself into the
     lot.


     INT. ELLIS'S CAR - NIGHT

     Ellis puts the car in park. He closes his eyes and sighs.

                          ELLIS
               Here we fucking go.

     Ellis steps out of his car.


     EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX - NIGHT

     Ellis steps out of his car and puts his hands in his pockets.

     He closes his eyes.

                          ELLIS
               Not today, not today, not today...

     Ellis walks toward his apartment.

                          KAYLA (O.S.)
               Maybe you shouldn't have PTSD when
               someone gets shot, Ellis!

     Ellis kicks a rock into some grass.

                          ELLIS
                    (mumbling)
               Someone got shot and it was someone
               I gave a shit about...

     He makes his way to his door that reads "138", takes out his
     keys, and opens the door.


     INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT

     Ellis's german shepherd, Sadie walks up to them with an
     excited look in their eyes. Sadie comes up and nuzzles
     Ellis's legs, and in return Ellis scratches her ears gently.

                          ELLIS
               Good dog.

     Sadie walks off and lays down in her bed.

     KAYLA, (23) sits there on their desktop.

     They're an obvious male to female transgender. They wear a
     brown wig with their brown eyes and are about 5"8. A "First
     Armored Division" patch sits on the table. They wear a tanker
     jacket and their headset with a pair of jeans.

                          KAYLA
               Hey Ellis.

                          ELLIS
               Hey.

     Ellis closes the door behind him and sighs.

                          ELLIS (O.S.) (CONT’D)
                    (thinking)
               Don't say anything, don't say
               anything...

     He props himself on the couch and turns on his PS4.

                          KAYLA
               Playing with people from my unit.

                          ELLIS
               Yeah, that's great.

                          KAYLA
                    (into headset)
               Yeah, it's just my neverserved
               roommate that got PTSD over a basic
               bitch gunshot wound don't worry
               about it.

     Ellis winces.

     His grip on the PS4 controller grows tighter.

     Ellis takes a deep breath, smiles, and stands up. He steps
     out of the room and comes back out with a 9mm.

     He sticks up to the back of Kayla's skull and pulls the
     trigger. Blood and brain matter paints itself against the
     previous white wall.

     Ellis carries a look of satisfaction in his eyes.

     Ellis holds the controller in his hands and sighs. He starts
     up Ace Combat and looks down.
