>you wake up to your cell phone alarm gently beeping at you >you shut it off and try to wake up >even though you slept you're still tired as hell >you're also sore as hell too >you do your best to gently untangle yourself from her without waking her >she mumbles something incoherent at you, rolls onto your side of the bed, and burrows under the comforter >you stand up and stretch out a bit >OW >you hiss air out as nerve endings wake up and start yelling at you >you walk barefoot to the bathroom to check yourself out in the mirror >it's worse than you thought >there's a hickie from hell right on one of the tendons on the side of your neck >it almost looks like she drew blood >little vampire >you turn in the mirror and look at your back >it's crisscrossed with red, angry lines >none of them bled, but they all hurt like hell >you reach in and turn on the shower to warm it up >you look yourself over in the mirror again, seeing just how bad it is >”Wow, what happened to you?” you hear sleepily behind you >you turn and see her standing there, wearing just her shirt from last night “You, apparently.” >she has a puzzled look for a half-second, before realization hit and her eyes flew open wide >”I did this to you?!” “Well, it's not like I can bite myself in the neck. You little vampire.” >her eyes start watering >crap >she bursts into tears >double crap >you walk over and hug her against your chest >she tries to talk through her tears >”I-I-I'm so-orry! I d-d-didn't mean to! You were my f-f-f-first time and I... and I... and I went too far!” >you brush her hair and hold her against you “There, there, it's okay.” >”N-no it's not! I screwed up! I hurt you! N-n-now you're going to get rid of me!” >she starts crying even harder >you gotta do something >you bend down a bit so you're at eye level with her “Hey. Look at me.” >she tries to get herself together as she locks eyes with you “I'm not getting rid of you. I'm never getting rid of you. You're stuck with me forever, got it?” >a small smile breaks through the tears as she hugs you tight >she does her best to compose herself >when she pulls away from your shoulder her face is still tear-streaked but she is smiling >”Well, the least I can do is take care of you, right?” >the steam from the shower starts to fill the bathroom >she gives you a light push towards the shower >”Get in, I'll wash your back.” >you oblige, sneaking a peek of her peeling the shirt off and tossing it on the floor >you get under the hot water, hissing slightly as it stings off your scratches >the shower curtain moves as she climbs in behind you >you feel her arms reach around you to grab soap and loofah >she gently, tenderly starts washing your back, being careful on the scratches to not scrub hard >you could get used to this >”Okay, turn around.” >you do so >she starts on your front, but doesn't get far before a hand grasps you “Hey, that's not-” >she cuts off your protest with a kiss >45 minutes later you two are driven from the shower by the hot water heater running out >you help her out of the shower because her legs are wobbly >yours aren't that steady yourself, but you can manage >you grab a towel for her and yourself >she grabs your towel out of your hands though and starts gently drying you off >no shenanigans this time, she might finally have had enough >while you're brushing your teeth, she raids the bathroom closet and comes up with Neosporin and a big bandaid >she bandages up your neck and then kisses the side of your face when she's done >”So what's the plan for today?” “Well, unfortunately I gotta work today. I have to be there at... hang on, what time is it?” >you go back to the bedroom and grab your phone >your shift starts in 20 minutes, but it's a 45 minute drive “Aw shit, I'm gonna be late!” >you throw on clothes, give her a kiss, and bolt out the door >you get to work late >lie to the boss and say you had car trouble >don't even get in trouble because it was a slow day anyways >the work day drags on >she's all that's on your mind though >how did this happen so fast? >less than a week ago you were a confirmed bachelor – not happy, but content >now your life is flipped, turned upside down >you've got a girl living with you that's also a gun >you still don't understand how THAT works >and she's fallen completely for you >and somehow she's broken down your defenses and wormed her way into your heart >you were serious about not moving fast, you've been hurt too many times >you keep... kept a wall up around yourself to protect yourself >but she tore that all down somehow >the old man's note was right – she is special >finally it's the end of the work day >as you pull in the driveway you see one of the curtains move, like someone was watching out the window but didn't want to be caught doing so >you park the car and go inside >you don't even get a chance to yell “I'm home!” like some cheesy sitcom before she greets you with a hug and kisses >”I missed you! It's so boring here without you!” >in the gaps in her romantic assault, you can see the house is clean >cleaner than when you bought it >cleaner than it's ever been in your ownership “Did you clean the whole house today?” >she nods happily >”Yep! I had to do something to keep occupied. I would've made dinner, but there's not much in the fridge.” >damn, you knew you'd been forgetting something “Well, wanna go shopping?” >her eyes light up “Just for food, nothing else.” >her enthusiasm dampens a little, but she nods with a smile on her face >the two of you hop in the car and drive over to the grocery store >you clown around a bit in the store, trying to make her laugh >she keeps telling you to put back all the processed stuff you're used to eating and insists on fresh foods instead >brave new territory for you >though you do sneak a can of Tourist's Delight when she's not paying attention >at the register, the bill's less than your normal grocery run even though you're buying for two >maybe there is something to this after all >when you get home she fires up the stove while you sort and put away the food >after dinner she suggests a movie >you're only about 20 minutes into it when her true intentions come to light as her hands and lips start wandering across your skin >you finally recover enough to turn off the TV right at the end of the credits >she's laying on the couch half-sleep >you gently pick her up and carry her to the bedroom >you softly lay her down on the mattress and pull the comforter over her >you lay down beside her, and she snuggles up next to you >yes, maybe there's something to this after all, you think to yourself as you drift off to sleep
