awesome epic >making my way up the stairs of the tall office building, I hear the battlefield below me >the sound of gunshots, magic attacks, and cannon fire are heard on the streets below me >on the street, militia forces and what’s left of the national guard pushed towards the Lake Michigan coast >as they went they struggled to take out the Sea Elves who had captured this area of Chicago after the /k/onvergence >even with the tactical advantage with guns, a few magic users, multiple Stryker APCs and an M1 Abrams main battle tank, the battle was still moving slowly >the elves outnumbered us greatly, and our scouting drones located a massive fleet of sea elf ships in the lake, effectively replacing all the ones we killed at land >our beginning artillery and mortar barrage cleared out most of the streets but some elves held out, hiding in buildings and ambushing our troops >they even used guns they had captured, although they weren’t very good shots >at the second highest floor, I stopped walking and took a short rest before taking out my Beretta M90two >peeking through the stair exit door I made sure there was no enemy presence here, and then moved on to clear out the entire floor >no contact. Perfect >I moved toward the window that pointed towards the battlefield and set my oversized rifle case down >I opened it, inside was an XM109 anti-materiel rifle >my assignment was to use this to take out a squad of high level sea elf mages in the rear of the battlefield >recon intel suggested they were in the middle of a high level summoning spell that was supposed to be completed in an hour >they were supposedly unprotected, so this wouldn’t be hard to do >after assembling the rifle, I loaded in a 25x59mm high explosive magazine and chambered a round with the heavy bolt >I got into the prone position next to the rifle and pulled my rangefinder out of my bag >While I looked through it, the battle still raged on below >I looked down at the streets to see gunfire and magic blasts exchanged >I scanned up and down until I found my targets. A little over 2 thirds of a mile away there was a group of 8 elves in robes all pointing their hands towards a magic circle >I’d never see anything like this before >the circle was covered in glowing blue runes, and looked about 20 meters in diameter and was hovering above the water on the beach >there were hardly any waves, the wind was calm >I decided not to dwell on it and got into a shooting position with my rifle, adjusting the rifle’s large scope for the distance >after sighting, I looked into the scope and acquired my targets. I would only have a couple seconds before they got to cover, so I had to land one shot to interrupt their magic >I relaxed my body and focused on the task at hand. Slowly all the battle noises faded out >I took one last deep breath and let the air empty out of my lungs, not holding my breath but rather letting it relax >the sway of the rifle slowed and I put my finger on the trigger >I could hear my heartbeat pumping, while my crosshairs landed center mass on one of the mages >I slowly increased the weight of the trigger >no click was heard, just a loud BANG >the window I was shooting through shattered, and the spent casing hit the floor >the recoil jolted my senses back into me, the smell of gunpowder filling my nostrils >no time to rest. I quickly reacquired my targets and saw the mage I hit blown in half, his guts splattered all over the sand >the others ran for cover behind buildings but slowed behind limping, probably injured by shrapnel >I aimed at him and slowed by breaths once again >I took the shot again, kicking the rifle into my shoulder. >I saw the second mage on the ground, missing his arm and half of his upper body >some bolts of energy were shot at me, breaking windows >obviously they’d know my position by now >I moved away from the window, picking up the rifle and case >wait a minute.. >if I killed the mages, why is the summoning circle still up? >I quickly made my way back to the staircase. Magic attacks were still begins thrown up at the window >I went up 2 flights of stairs, finding myself on the roof of the tall building >oh shit >something was crawling out of the summoning portal >what the fuck, it wasn’t supposed to be completed yet! >I folded the XM109’s bipod and set it up on the concrete ledge of the skyscraper, aiming down at the circle >a huge looking lizard, looking to be maybe 40 feet was crawling on the shore >it was greenish blue and scaly like an alligator yet.. >looked like some unholy combination of a dragon, and a fish, with fins lining its four legs and back >I’ve heard about dragons sometimes appearing these days, but a water dragon? >those questions will have to be answered later >down on the streets we had taken a significant foothold, with the Strykers being able to force the enemy into the Main Street where the Abrams could take them down with HE shells >I pulled out my radio >”This is uh.. overwatch! You guys got a big fucking dragon heading your way!” >The sea dragon was advancing faster than I’d like to our positions, climbing over any obstacle in its path. >I started firing imprecise shots at it to slow it down, but the 25mm rounds did minimal damage. >it slowed down and stared like a knife right at me. Oh shit >the dragon roared and opened its mouth in my direction and I got the feeling I should duck >I jumped out of the way, holding my rifle, just before a blast of high powered steam shattered the part of the barrier I was behind >even being a few feet away I could feel the heat burning me >I would have been literally cooked to death if that hit >I heard increased gunfire and the sound of the Abrams firing >I crawled over to another part of the ledge and peeked over, just to see the dragon with a huge gash in it’s side >before the Abrams could let off another shot the dragon pounced on it, smashing wildly on the tank’s turret >infantry tried to shoot at it but their rifles had virtually no effect, and those who were too close were chopped up or crushed by the dragon’s claws >I emptied the last 2 shots of my magazine into it but it payed no attention >the Sea Dragon let out another ear bleeding screech and opened its mouth again while pointed directly down into the tank. A loud jet engine-like sound could be heard >the dragon started to inhale >suddenly, it was lit up by a barrage of fire from above >an F-15 from nowhere just started firing on it! >the dragon changed it’s position, turning around to fire it’s steam jet at the fighter jet instead >the F-15 sharply turned into a barrel roll, avoiding the blast. >while the dragon was distracted, 2 members of the Abrams crew jumped out of the hatch and ran >whoever was piloting this plane must be fucking good >as the F-15 turned around to make another combat turn I realized we called for air support.. in fact our defense forces didn’t have any airplanes. >the dragon started climbing up one of the skyscrapers like it was going to face the plane head on >I had no idea what to do, other than hope this pilot knows what he’s doing >the F-15 was flying right into the street that the building that dragon was on was, at a concerningly low altitude >is this guy crazy? He’s gonna crash into a building! >he fired a burst of 20mm at the dragon again, and the dragon opened its mouth to attack >the F-15 was flying literally on the street between the skyscrapers as the dragon fired another blast of hot steam >everything felt like it was going in slow motion, or maybe like I was watching a movie where that F-15 was the main character >the plane expertly dodged the steam, turning sideways into collision path with the dragon >as it turns, I see the distinctive markings on the top of the plane. Could it be?.. >with just a few hundred feet before collision, the plane, still sideways, dropped a bunker buster bomb, and made an extremely sharp turn left and up, shooting straight up into the sky >as it did, the bomb collided with the dragon, going right into it’s torso and exploding spectacularly >the dragon was turned to red mush, with body parts falling down into the street >while we were all in awe, the F-15 flew away, leaving as it came >at this point I was sure it was the man I’ve heard so many legends about >The Demon Of the Skies, or as some may call him, F15 Anon. >Two men in their 40’s sat at a bar, rifles slung over their chairs. One with a trucker cap and olive drab field jacket spoke. >”Well shit David! That right there’sa fuckin’ story! Wish I could see the look on the knife ear faces after that.” >the other man, with a red t-shirt and multicam pants replied. >”Hell yeah brother. We kicked their asses after that one.” >”Dave I’ll be honest, that jus’ makes me more excited, for next month.” >”Why’s that?” >”Adam found a security job down in Mexico, something about shark people attacks. I told him to sign us both up! Train leaves in 3 days!” >”Ah what the fuck Mike, we’re both too old for this mercenary shit.” >”C’mon man, it’s just’a short gig. You can’t say it’s not a good chance to travel again. Maybe you’ll get to shoot more elves! Here, I’ll pay fer tonight’s drinks too if you come.” >”..Fine. Ok, fine.” David shrugged >one of the elf waitresses looked at the table >she felt quite uncomfortable around them for the rest of the time they were there.
