>Be me >SPC Lukes >Military Police >I know I know, super mega gay job but w/e >Stationed in Korea >Working the night shift >Super boring since not a lot actually happens here >But tonight might be slightly interesting >Apparently some sensitive items arrived on post during swing shift and is being stored in a hangar on the airfield >Of course, they didn’t tell us what said item is, if I had to guess it’s probably some new drone >Regardless, I got called in as an extra patrol as static security, alongside it’s accompanying security detail >Not sure why they need me, but alright >Pulling up to the airfield gates >No Korea bro with me for tonight, since they don’t actually have clearances >Gate to the airfield is open but there’s two Airforce Security Forces standing by the entrance >They’re basically the Airforce’s version of us, but even more gay and with better funding >They have their fancy plate carriers and slung M4s while I just have my M17 and a shitty soft armor vest >Unfair man >They wave me through >Drive through the gate and turn my car to face the entrance >Hop out the car to socialize, it’s gonna be a long night so might as well make friends >Walk over to them >Before I can say anything the SecFor guy speaks >”Wait, your name is Lukes?” >wat.png >well that’s odd >look down at my nametape >”Well, that’s what it says right there, so yeah. Why, whats up?” >The two SecFor guys share a knowing look with each other, before looking back at me >”It’s nothing, just kind of a weird coincidence. I wouldn’t worry about it too much” >Oh no >He said the phrase, something is up >But realistically trying to prod and get answers isn’t going to get me anywhere, this isn’t an investigation >And tbh the less I know about what’s going on in that hangar, the better >”Uhhhhhh alright then, anything else I should know?” >Both of the SecFor guys relax a little >”Basically, there’s four of us here. Us, and two other guys in the hangar. I’m sure you’ve already been briefed a little on the situation, but long story short you’re here to make sure nothing happens outside the hangar.” >”We are going to be joining our guys inside here shortly. If anyone tries to get inside, you are cleared to shoot. Finally, do NOT enter the hangar unless it’s life, limb, or eyesight, and even then you’ll be buried under paperwork and probably an investigation. If for whatever reason you need us, just start pounding on the door and give us a shout” >I nod and nervously swallow, whatever is going on in there is WAY above my paygrade >One of the SecFor guys starts to walk towards the hanger, the other lingering for a moment >My nervousness must be pretty evident as he grins >”Relax man, nothings gonna happen” >With that he joins his buddy and walks away as well >He just broke a cardinal rule of jinxing and now I know this whole thing is gonna be a shit sandwich >I shake my head get back inside of my patrol car >Sure enough, stuff starts happening >Shortly after the SecFor dudes got inside the hanger, I hear a distinctly female voice shout >”His name is WHAT?!” >Followed by what sounds like metal scraping against metal, and chains being jostled >Then the noises stop, as suddenly as they started >WTF >I look over at the hangar >What the hell is going on in there? >And what does my name have to do with anything? >My questions remain unanswered as the night remains silent >I sit back and listen to my patrol radio >The usual traffic buzzes across the net, stuff like drunken fights and minor traffic violations >But then the radio starts blaring distorted messages in a language I can’t discern >The following silence is deafening >I see someone moving in the distance >They start walking up to the closed gate >Its dark and I can’t make out their features very well >I get out of my car to tell whoever it is to fuck off >By the time I get near the fence I can clearly see who has walked up to the gate, and what I see makes no sense >There’s a gorgeous Korean woman dressed like a temple maiden standing just on the other side >But her eyes are just… >Wrong >She looks over to me and smiles >”Hello there handsome, what brings you here at this late hour?” >Is this some type of North Korean saboteur? >”Ma’am, this is a restricted area. Back away from the fence, now” >She makes a pout face, which would have been very sexy >But her eyes are seriously freaking me out >She presses herself against the fence >”Mmmmmmm, are you sure there isn’t a way for you to let me in? I can make it very worthwhile for you” >I take a step back and put my hand on my pistol >”Get back now, or I’ll shoot!” >She giggles >As she does, the air behind her and above her head starts to glow >Suddenly, fox ears protrude from her head, and she is flanked by nine fluffy tails >Nine tails… >”Y-you’re a kitsune?!” >Her gorgeous features are suddenly marred by a hate filled snarl >”Don’t compare me to those harlots! I am a Kumiho, and you will die for such a mistake!” >I draw my pistol from its holster >With inhuman speed she rips down the fence and lunges at me >I manage to get a shot off and into her shoulder before she gets on top of me and slams me into the ground >Her now claw like hands clasp onto my arms pinning and cutting me >Much louder gunfire erupts from behind me and the Kumiho looks up >I see multiple bullets hit their mark but they don’t seem to affect her >She pounces off of me and I roll to secure my pistol >More gunfire echoes and my ears begin to ring >Then the screams start >Having secured my pistol, I get up and aim in the direction the foul creature jumped >Three of the SecFor guys had come out of the hangar and must have started shooting when the Kumiho first pinned me >But two of them are clearly already dead, their chests eviscerated >She has the third one pinned to the ground >The SecFor’s struggle is ceased as she slits his throat >She then darts into the open hangar >I debate following her in for a second >On one hand, I really don’t want to die >On the other, I can’t let her get to whatever is in that hangar >And dammit I want to know what’s inside >Hands shaking, with blood dripping down my arms, I make entry >Upon entering the hangar, I see that the Kumiho’s outfit is in tatters after all the gunshots >She however seems unfazed as she pins the last SecFor, repeating the process of slitting his throat >The sickly gurgling and choking sounds echo across the hanger, but she’s not finished with him yet >She plunges her claws into his chest and scoops out his heart >Steam rises from the organ >She bites down on it and lets out a soft moan >Jesus Christ what am I watching >As she continues to devour the poor bastard’s body, I silently and slowly creep to her position >She’s too consumed with her twisted ecstasy to notice my approach >I close the distance and aim directly at her head, if this doesn’t kill her then nothing will >At near point blank range, I fire right into her skull >Her body slumps over the mutilated corpse of the SecFor >I keep my weapon trained on her body as it begins to glow, before dissipating into an uncountable amount of particles >”This isn’t overrrr” >Her voice echoes across the now silent hangar >I holster my bloodstained pistol >I look at my hands, now doused in red from the deep wounds on my arms >Am I… Am I going to bleed out? >And what the hell is in here that was so damn important >I look around and I am startled with what I see >Or rather, how I missed it >There’s an F86 Saber fighter jet just sitting in the middle of the hangar! >WTF >I go over to get a closer look >My grandpa used to tell me stories about these planes, how they ruled the skies during the war >As I approach the old warbird, the dripping of my blood disrupts the otherwise silent hangar >The first thing I notice is that the plane is in pristine condition >But the second thing that I notice rocks me to my core >Just underneath the cockpit, a name is written >”Lt. Lukes” >This… >This is my grandpa’s plane! >What the hell is it doing here? >Why the hell were the SecFor guys guarding it? >And what in the God-damned fuck did a demonic fox want with it!? >The temperature seems to drop as I get even closer to the plane >Or maybe I’m just dying >I reach out and place a hand on the fuselage >My vision begins to fade and I’m feeling light headed >I stumble and begin to fall as the edges of my sight grow darker >The last thing I see before I fall back is my bloody handprint on the Saber >So this is it >I die having defended my grandpa’s plane from a demon fox lady >I stare at the ceiling and close my eyes >I before I pass out to accept death’s cold embrace, the female voice from before coos >”You really do look like him” Saber POV >It’s been so long since I’ve heard that name >The bloodied MP, who I assume to be his grandson, approaches me >As he does, all those memories come flooding back >The high intensity dogfights over mig alley >My pilot being injured in combat, and revealing myself to him after landing >Swearing that he would keep me a secret >But on that last tour, we were caught >And before either of us knew it, I was whisked away to that God forsaken airfield in Nevada >They ran all sorts of tests, or at least attempted to >Tried as they might, I refused to switch to my human form >But they knew what I was >And they wouldn’t stop their pestering >They even brought in other girls like me >But they had separated me from my pilot, and I would never forgive them for it >I don’t know how many decades went by, sitting all alone >But I do remember them telling me my pilot had died of old age >Never before had I felt more alone >Another year passes by as I continue to collect dust >Then one day, after at least a decade of being ignored, someone comes to visit me beyond simple upkeep >”I know you’ve been ignoring us” >I almost snort, it’s been over 50 years >”But I’d figure you should know before it happens; you’re being moved, back to Korea” >What? >Why now? >”And who knows, you might even bump into someone…familiar” >More and more questions fill my mind >I’m so occupied with my thoughts over the course of the next few days I barely notice being loaded into a C-5 cargo jet >Shortly after it lands, they wheel me out onto the airfield >Everything is so different now >The brief glimpse of freedom ends as I’m taken to yet another hangar >Some of the personnel assigned to guard me start chatting amongst themselves >”Dude, did you catch the name of that MP?” >”Yeah man, SPC Lukes. What are the chances of that” >His name is WHAT!? >The airmen turn to look at me, and I realize I must have said that outloud >Consequences be damned, I attempt to transform on the spot >But it’s been so long… >My airframe groans as I try and fail to shift to my human form >One of the airmen gets close to me >”You know, if you behave, we might let you see him” >I internally sigh >”Alright” I softly whisper >Any thoughts of seeing my pilot’s grandson are interrupted by a gunshot and yelling >Three of the SecFor rush out the hangar, rifles at the ready >There’s more gunfire followed by even more screaming >Screaming the likes of which I haven’t heard since the war >Then, something I hadn’t seen since mig alley enters the hangar >One of the demon foxes of old >And this bitch in particular looks familiar… >She pounces on the last SecFor before brutally ending him >But then, he enters the hanger >At a first glance, I don’t see the resemblance >After he quickly executes the Kumiho, he looks over at me >I see his eyes focus, then widen >Does he…does he know? >As he approaches me, blood dripping down his arms, I get a better look at him >He reaches out, touching my airframe and leaves a bloody handprint >The contact with his blood causes an energy to surge through me >His face grows even more pale, the injuries and blood loss having taken their toll >He falls back, losing consciousness >After so many years, I finally change back to my human form to catch him >I finally get a good look at his face >”You really do look like him” >The world has gone completely dark >So this is it, I’m dead >Feel a warm embrace wrap around me >I thought death was supposed to be cold? >”Come back Lukes” >That voice again >”Don’t leave me here” >My eyes open >There’s yet another beautiful woman staring down at me >She’s sitting down, my head in her lap >Chin length golden hair frames a sad but relieved smile >Piercing green eyes meet mine >Striking resemblance to a certain anime character >She’s wearing an old school flight suit and a leather pilot’s jacket >Looks comfy ngl >”W-what…” >I try to get up >She gently but firmly pushes on my chest to keep me down >”Not yet, you need another minute to heal before we can move” >Oh >I raise my hands out in front of my face >Caked in my own dried blood >She sighs >”You lost a lot of blood fighting that commie bitch” >”Commie?” >She seems to ignore my question and starts playing with my hair >”What you did was very brave” >FeelsGoodMan >The moment is interrupted by distant gunshots and inhuman screeching >The woman sighs again >”Damnit, I thought we’d have more time” >She gets up, gently setting my head down on the ground >I get myself up, but the injuries on my arms make it difficult >I finally get up and look around >The Saber is gone >WTF >I am going to be in so much shit >”Where’s the jet?” >She looks back at me with a smirk >”What do you mean? I’m right here” >Lol what >”Sure, and I’m an M1 Abrams. Now seriously, where’s the plane?” >She looks shocked for a moment, then frowns >”You’re mocking me, aren’t you” >”Look lady, I almost died trying to protect that jet from something out of a bad anime, and I’m not trying to get in even more shit than I’m already in” >”So for the last time, where is it?!” >A sad, knowing smile crosses her face >”So he really did keep me secret” >She reaches into a pocket in her jacket and pulls out an old photo >Holds it out for me to see >Its a photo I’ve seen before >But not quite >It’s a picture of my grandpa when he was young, striking a pose with his jet >But his jet is nowhere to be seen >Instead, she’s posing alongside him >”How… This doesn’t make any sense!” >She tucks the picture back into her pocket >”Look, I understand you’re probably more than a little confused right now. What you need to get through your head is that I am the same fighter jet that your grandfather flew all those years ago.” >”Now, we can either stand around and keep debating, or you can accept the facts, and we can move on. If you really need more proof we can get to that later-” >A distant explosion cuts her off >”But we really can’t stay here” >”Alright, any ideas on where to go?” >She crosses her arms and looks slightly annoyed >”If you haven’t noticed, I haven’t exactly had a chance to look around, being stuck in a hangar and all” >Oh >Right >”Well I guess we could try the PMO and attempt to figure out what the hell is going on” >She cocks her head to the side >”PMO?” >Now it’s my turn to sigh >”The police station, basically” >She gestures at the door >”After you” >Look back at the dead SecFor >”I’ll meet you outside, give me a minute” >Walk over to his body >Take a knee besides him >”I’m sorry I couldn’t get her fast enough” >close his eyes >Collect his dogtags >Pause for a minute, before deciding to take his M4 and ammo, stuffing the mags into my vest >Exit the hangar >The yet unnamed woman is leaning up against the patrol car >Repeat the process of closing eyes, taking dog tags, and collecting ammo >It’s a grim tasking I’ve given myself >Pause for a second at the last body, and take his M4 as well >Approach her and the patrol car >Hand her the spare M4 >”You know how to use this?” >She glances at the carbine, before gently taking it out of my hand >”I’m sure I can figure it out” >That doesn’t exactly bring me confidence but w/e >Take a look around >Smoke blots out the stars, multiple buildings within the base and the surrounding city are on fire >Distant gunfire continues sporadically, interrupted by the odd explosion and inhuman scream >What the hell >”Any idea what’s going on?” >She shrugs >”Nothing good, I can tell you that much” >Snort >Wordlessly hop in the car >Start the clapped out Impala as she gets in the passenger side >”So, you got a name?” >She looks at me with a smug grin >Oh, don’t say it- >”You can just call me Saber for now” >Of fucking course >Between the blonde hair, green eyes, and claiming to be an actual fucking jet, of course she’s calling herself that >I sigh and shake my head before keying the radio >”Guardian, 3-6, how copy?” >Silence >About to key it again when it bursts to life with static >”-6, Guardia-...end taffi-” >Fuck >”Guardian 3-6, shots fired, multiple personnel KIA, break” >I glance over at Saber as she stares at the smokey sky >”Threat neutralized, sensitive item secure. Please advise” >Another long pause >”3-6, Guardian, -turn to sta-, -ring her with yo-, meet w- desk” >Hol up >’Bring her with you’? >How do they know about her? >”Copy, en route to yours, out” >Start the short drive over to the PMO >Saber looks out the window, slight signs of distress on her face >All manner of tactical vehicles and troops sporadically appear alongside the route >More than a few bodies too >Most, unfortunately, look like soldiers >But some… >Are those…goblins? >There’s small green bodies, definitely not human >Shake my head and continue driving >There’s a roadblock ahead, two MAT-Vs and their accompanying troops have put out c-wire across the road >I don’t have time for this >Turn on my emergency lights and continue up to the roadblock >But the troops don’t move the C-wire, and instead signal me to halt >God dammit >Pull up to the C-wire and roll my window down >One soldier approaches my vehicle, wearing a tired and almost shell shocked expression that doesn’t belong on a face as young as his >”Guys, I don’t have time for this! I have a VIP here and need to get to the-” >”Sorry sir-” >Sir? >”-my mistake, be on your way” >Wack >He backs off and the other soldiers move the C-wire out of the way before they wave us through >Keep driving >Pull into the PMO >Most of the patrol cars are parked in their usual spots >Looks like most of the patrols have returned to station >But some look more damaged than they were before the start of shift >Park the car >”Come on, lets go” >Hop out and enter the station, with ‘Saber” following closely behind me >Punch in the code to the door and open it, holding it open for her >She may be an actual embodiment of a fighter jet but still >quickly make my way to the desk >there’s only two people present, the desk sergeant and someone I don’t recognize >He’s tall, almost willowy, wearing a dress shirt, a black tie, khakis, and fucking sunglasses >Who the fuck wears sunglasses inside, and at night? >Before anyone can say anything, ‘Saber’s eyes go wide as she points at him >”You!”
