Obadinia - The Outsider In the fabric between worlds, where the lost go before re-emerging lies the primordial being Obadinia, the Unknowable Maw. His form is vast, a hard shell makes up his core, his five eye stalks are thick and unmoving. Along his sides massive plate like wings move him through the void by undulating rythmically, enemies beware, his terrifying gaze. Upon each new world the Depuans are thrust upon he has placed a giant egg, this egg is tapped for it’s nutritious yolk which to the Depauns tastes better than all other foods and is as nourishing as it tastes, although not all depaucans will ever get a proper taste of the substance in their lifetime as supplies are truly limited due to how slowly this substance leaks from the egg. ~interpretations of Obadinia~ Among the clans many clashing ideas of the nature of this celestial being (or creature?) and what his true nature is, this topic is hotly debated sometimes through rhetoric and argument and sometimes through sword and law. Clan Amplekt The Merchentile Clan Obadinia - God of the Void The slender Clan Amplekt worships this god as the single god whose presence is constant throughout all the worlds, for they believe that every world has its own gods who must be payed homage to, for they claim themselves to be travellers only here for a time, and a good traveller respects the laws of the land. They believe Obadinia to be a Benevolent deity, a being who does no evil but does not actively do good without sacrifice. This merchentile clan worships Obadinia in manners similar to how the gods of whatever world they are on are worshiped, in their prayers to other gods (when they aren’t praying to Obadinia) also often include acknowledgments of Obadinia alongside the deities being prayed to or worshiped. Clan Lyrara The Lawful Clan Obadinia - Lord of All Clan Lyrara are ferverent followers of Obadinia for they believe him to be the rightful and true ruler of the universe, but they follow him because of his authority and not for any notion of him being a very kind God, to them he has provided them with the luxury of a fairly stable memory of the worlds they have left behind without eventually falling to genocide or immense cultural shifts every time they go to a new world. They claim Obadinia as a Malevolent deity, whose law while not generous is indeed fully legitimate and thus tribute to him must be gathered and his laws enforced, for these laws have been shown to work well, and what good is wisdom and order if it is not enforced? This clan, by law of course worships Obadinia through the strict following of his laws along with a large (biturnly) sacrifice of great beasts and fine artifacts inside of hypothermic vents (or an open flame if the world lacks vents), they will seek out many foreign artifacts and works which will be used for this sacrifice if they are in power. Clan Paitoy The Honourable Clan Obadinia - The World Gardener To the members of clan Paitoy Obadinia is a very paternal figure, as they recognize it as the greatest creature of the universe, godlike in power but material in presence. Their worship of it is therefore much more a matter of honouring the being rather than trying to talk to it, although this means they also pay respects to the deities of the world they live upon with many still even holding true (different families worship different gods) to the gods of the worlds they have lived upon previously, though worship of any god is never enforced due to the tendency by them to not want to be to much like either of the other clans. Their belief in the Benevolence of Obadinia often causes a swing for or against them whenever a different clan takes power for zealots for this being are never all that hard to find. The Paitoy hold many day long festivals throughout the year in honour of Obadinia, their longest festival is held a (turn) long, it is always enacted (3 turns) after taking power, during this time they will ask other nations to hold a time of peace until the festival is over and may also gift other nations some of the fruits of their labor if they are on favourable terms with them. Clan Kurygm The Outcast Clan Obadinia - The Forsaker While Clan Kurygm is not a centralized or even halfly traditional clan one thing does usually hold true when a Kurygm settlement is left to its own devices for very long, is that to them Obadinia is a betrayer. To the scattered members of this clan the great creature is a fully evil one who has caused or neglected the condition and health problems the Kurygm face, they even claim that it is the fault of Obadinia that the other clans cast Kurygm out, as they believe that any sane society would care to the maligned instead of ostracizing them for a condition they (in some cases) could not have helped, this means that it must be the case that Obadinia caused such a widely accepted edict to be adopted by all the clans. The Kurygm during times where individuals do worship Obadinia use similar rites and rituals to their founding clan of the time.
