~A Guide on Common Golems and Crafts~ Within the Culture of Ars_Goetia companions of many different varieties are not only commonplace but essentially required for daily life as they provide the vast bulk of the menial and hard manual labor along with generally making the often hard lives of the people much more comfortable even in the face of destitute life situations. There are two different kinds of artificial companion, the first being the Golems - Great and poorly understood machines who are not always attached to just one specific person and instead are practical things which require both food (usually in the form of coal or black water - and the second being the enigmatic Crafts, constructs which are directly tied to their creators, requiring the presence of their master in order to function along with being capable of otherwise impossible feats such as cold metal welding without bending and a shifting of weight or even temporary transmutation. ~Golem Classification~ Being creatures of mostly metal Golems can be made of a variety of different parts a few of which are major enough to warrant a specific variation in classification, the different parts which can change classification are as follows: Engine, Cogitator and Movement System >Cogitators Among all the parts which make up Golems the Cogitator is the most important as it is the most tedious to produce, requiring many hours of ritual crafting or grafting in order to function correctly. ~Type A Cogitators~ The most common type is the Type A cogitator, called more commonly a circuit or metal brain, these devices take many months to produce and require the participation of many members of a tribe in order to complete but among all cogitators they last the longest, with average lifespans (bar war or neglect) in the decades. They are renowned for their ability to take simple orders and their great loyalty to not any one person but to the tribe itself. ~Type B Cogitators~ A less common type of Cogitator which once dominated the landscape but has recently fallen out of favor the Type B Cogitator, also known as the Borgian Brain is made using the Brain of a dying person, usually a respected tribe elder. The process does not take much time when compared to Type A Cogitators but is considered often immoral due to the religious and spiritual beliefs of most tribes and the often broken and unrecognizable mental state the participant comes out with. ~Type C Cogitators~ The most rare of the current repeatable types the Type C or in a common tongue the Craft Brain is made using a Craft connected to a basic neural processor, it is not popular due to the mental link required to keep it active but is used among a few of the lesser tribes to a great extent. ~Type D Cogitators~ Type D is a catch all term for arcane and impossible to recreate processors from long ago which produce their own power independently of the engine. There are many different sub types but all are essentially the same for all practical purposes due to a common motif of hardiness and a unknowable nature. >Engines The part that powers most if not all of the Golem the Engine ~Type 1 Golems - Coal Chewers~ Coal Chewers, or in technical Terms Type 1 Golems are very well the simplest and most common form of golem, consisting of a main body (where the main engine usually sits, the engine pretty much takes up the whole body), two arms (usually) and two legs along with a head, in which the most important and hardest part to make - the *metal brain - resides. They are not often very smart unlike their brethren and cannot be made very large due to increasing fuel costs but they are incredibly consistent in both their strength and take orders well. ~Type 2 Golems~
