There are places in this world where the unexplainable occurs, these places far out into the wilderness are holes in the ever engrossing net of electricity and internet that prevent us from reaching the other side as well as protect us from it. The other side has gone by many names throughout the millennia Argatha, Shamballa, Shangri La, Sheol, El Dorado, Atlantis, Tir Na Nog, ect but now its most commonly known as Dhéǵhōm. Access to this land used to be only from spelunking and freak lightning storms but now this once lost world is accessible again all you have to do is ride the lighting. Riding the lighting is self explanatory but it can’t be any lighting storm it has to be a certain kind of lighting storm. The areas you are most likely to find these storms are Chernobyl, Tunguska, Stonehenge, the Yellow Mountains, the Rocky Mountains, the Hindu Kush, the Himalayas, the area known as Skinwalker ranch has had promising results as well, but any wild untamed place can be used as a centerpoint for a ride. The main problem now that you have your starting point is now finding your endpoint is hard and it is unadvisable to take a random Ride as you do not know where you will come out. The groups of significant size in this area are the Fortunate Sons, a group of Americans who fly around in Hueys and blast CCR thus earning their name. Outfitted in Vietnam Era surplus arms and equipment with a slathering of WWII and Korean war gear in between, they are known to frequent the tropical regions and operate several of the larger trade hubs in country. To the wider world they are known as a glorified armed taxi service for archaeologists, scientists, and anyone else wanting a safe trip to the other side. In an ironic turn of fate they are on good terms with the Russian group known as the Izbrannyj Perun or Perun’s Chosen in English and are the other largest faction on the other side. They are considered the most heavily armed group with large numbers of Soviet tanks and APCs from the Soviet-Afghan war and conflicts in Czeczenia. Their presence is the strongest in the steppe regions to the northwest entering combat with nomadic Pashtun tribesmen in the highlands as they expand southward towards the Sierra Fantasma Mountains and the wealth of gold in the region. One thing both groups have in common is their dislike of the Chinese PLA that have made numerous incursions across the boundary and have declared that vast swaths of territory on the other side are the sovereign ancestral territory of China. Neighboring the Sierra Fantasmas are the jungles of the El Dorado Plateau. This region is home to a large mesoamerican civilization that has been speculated to be the inspiration for the original El Dorado legend. Evidence supporting these claims is that the remains of several conquistador expeditions have been found in the region. This culture appears to be one of the few that still have contact with their topside cultural counterparts. This region also has to deal with incursions by drug cartels seeking gold and new smuggling routes. To the far north deep in angel territory is the ruins of Hyperborea. Buried behind a huge ice wall that stretches higher than the Angels fly and rubs lower than the deepest pits. All we know about this civilization is gleaned from the few ruins found deep in Angel Territory. It is a Slavic/Nordic civilization based on the architecture found in the few ruins it left behind. Now it’s time for a quick rundown on some of the more unique beasties that can be encountered in this god forsaken paradise. They can be split down into two groups the Relics and the Mythos, both names are self explanatory with the Relics being relic populations of extinct animals and the Mythos being animals thought to only exist in myth and legend. There is a third group that is currently unclassified out of fear of what they might do to us for lumping them all together. They are creatures of immense power, intelligence and danger. There are five groups that are encountered most often, with varying degrees of survivability. These groups are the Fae Folk, Naive Spirits, Yokai, and the Angels. The first three are pretty self explanatory and have decent relations with humans but the Angels, these are not your typical humans with wings and halos, no no no these are monsters of ungodly power from the original Hebrew Bible, they purge anything that is not their own, they are extremely dangerous capable of incinerating anything on their line of sight and nearly impervious to all forms of conventional weapons unless subject to nuclear weapons, thankfully they mostly stay in their territory and rarely venture outside of it. The Swamp. While there are plenty of other swamps and marshlands in this primeval dreamland of death none of them compare to this one. An seemingly endless expanse of dead trees, mud, water, and machinery. Nobody knows how long they've been there and nobody knows what they do but they are still turning even after the several millennia they have been theorized to have been there. Are they keeping something out? Are they keeping something in? If so, what? Those are the questions asked by many who have made it to the gears and have lived to tell the tale. The Angels circle that swamp like a pack of vultures. Waiting for something, what, we do not know and hope to never know. Because when it comes to that swamp the less you know the better. It has driven the most hardened men to madness and has taken the lives of the most experienced troopers. It should not be disrespected nor ventured into alone because nobody in their right mind is going in there to save your sorry ass. Kilgore Airfield, the home base of the Fortunate Sons. This is the first stop for most English speakers entering Dhéǵhōm, with the Sons running a massive air lift back topside once a month this making it the only way in or out form many. There are many outposts and trade towns run by the Sons that allow any weary traveler to set up camp for the night with no issue. One of the biggest issues when traversing Sons territory is how overused names are; there are 23 Clearwater's, 18 Blackwater's, 13 Shitwater's, and 9 Tombstones. Names get worse once you get out of Sons territory, both in overuse and unoriginality as well as absurdity. It is a common consensus that independent raiders are the worst at naming things. Kubeloon originally called Kowloon 2 the name was memes and jokingly renamed until it became what it is known as today. Built out of the ruins of an abandoned hanging temple, this shantytown tower is the largest trade hub in Sons territory. Just because it is in their territory doesn’t mean that the Sons control it. Independents dominate the city with most disputes being settled in duels and open conflict. Thievery is a way of life there, if something is stolen you steal it back, unlike faction territory nobody is helping you get your shit back.
